The House of Stewart
This week, there was another excellent episode of The Problem with Jon Stewart. And the problem they dealt with was gun violence. (As he says at the end of the show, to paraphrase him, "I'm sure the 600 comments this show will get online will all be positive!") Because the discussion with two women who were shooting victims of domestic abuse and are now national advocates on the subject was so strong, Stewart had the good sense to make his later "commercial breaks" serious, with no humor in them. And his two interviews with a government official and head of a police chief organization were excellent, as well. But there was humor laced in -- in his opening segment, and the "commercial break" that followed. Here's the opening.
Here's a small part of his panel discussion. You'll see how impactful it was.
By the way, you may have seen the story that Rachel Maddow did earlier in the week about the Biden Administration changing the policy of having "burn pits" outside military installations overseas which cause horrible disease for the soldiers, yet it's hard for those afflicted to prove where their illness came from. As a reminder, this was the topic addressed on the very first The Problem with Jon Stewart. So, good for them. And good for the Administration.
