The Holiday Music Fest 2022

Dec 7, 2022
2 min read

After posting three different songs, each of them titled "A Christmas Carol," for the Holiday Music Fest yesterday, I thought that today would be a good day for an appropriate follow-up of sorts.

It turns out that Brett Goldstein, the British actor who plays the gruff, relentlessly foul-mouthed 'Roy Kent' on the series Ted Lasso (and writes for the show, as well), is a truly massive fan of The Muppets.  And not long ago, he sat down with Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo and Kermit's nephew Robin to interview them for 21-minutes about the 1992 The Muppets Christmas Carol, which he says he considers, objectively, the greatest movie of all-time.

But before we get to the interview, I think it's best to show a really good example about what I mean about Goldstein being a truly massive fan of The Muppets.

This then is Brett Goldstein doing a 6-minute, one-man version of The Muppets Christmas Carol.  Basically, it's him performing the songs with a whole lot of fast costume changes.  And no swearing.

And as a quick bonus, to further his Muppet Love, here's Goldstein when he got a career highlight (as he put it) appearing with the Muppets on Sesame Street.  With no swearing -- though there is a quick, subtle allusion to it.

(There's another moment from the show, which I can't find as a standalone video, where he sits in a companion trashcan next to his spirit icon Oscar the Grouch, as the two snarl at one another when Big Bird cheerily asks them about it being such a beautiful day.)

And now, with that to establish his credentials, here is Brett Goldstein interviewing the Muppets about The Muppets Christmas Carol.
