The Heartbreak Kid Strikes Again

I know this will come as “Breaking News” shock, but Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has actually done a complete 180-degree turn on his criticism of J.D. Vance (R-OH), now that Vance is the MAGOP nominee for Vice President.

No, really!  Honest.  It's like the world has turned upside-down, and twisted into an almost unidentifiable reality with no foundation to steady itself.

Only few months ago, Vance tried to make a case against supporting Ukraine funding and wrote an op-ed in the New York Times.  Among other things, he complained that the United States was unable to deal with more than one conflict at a time, something the country has, of course, done in the past, even the recent past, like with Afghanistan and Iraq.

That brought about an angry, public slam from Graham who has long been a strong supporter of helping defend Ukraine, a policy that President Biden has been aggressive about as necessary for the safety of the United States against aggressive efforts by Russia.  So, Graham went on the Mother Ship, Fox Sunday, and made a blistering, heart-wrenching rebuttal.  Among other things, he said –

"I challenge J.D. Vance to go to Ukraine and get a briefing from the Ukrainian military and talk to the Ukrainian people. Then tell me what you think. Quit talking about things you don't know anything about until you go."

Graham added, “He's wrong about the whole concept that we can deal with multiple problems. "The idea that we can't help Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan at the same time, I reject that. I reject it totally."

That’s pretty direct.  That pretty blunt.  Doubly so.  “I reject that.  I reject it totally.”

Totally.

But tying himself into a pretzel while holding a mint julep is a skill that Lindsey Graham has long-since mastered.  It’s a skill honed on his lap dog needy love for Trump, after Trump humiliated him by giving out his private phone number, and after Graham slammed Trump as a crazy nut job who would ruin the Republican Party.  If you can reverse course on that, you can reverse course on pretty much anything.

He now, needless-to-say, loves J.D. Vance and even thinks the guy is pretty darn brilliant.  Because…why not?  Hey, he’s Lindsey Graham.  And so after Vance’s speech at the RNC, Graham posted his heart-filled with joy reaction on TwiXter --

"Vance did a great job last night. He has one of the most compelling stories in American politics. I know he’ll be an effective advocate for the America First agenda. Under the Biden-Harris Administration, the world is a very dangerous place. We need President @realDonaldTrump now. The party is united. We’re ready to win. On to victory!"

Lindsey Graham.  U.S. Senator with the backbone of an earthworm.  Who does more quintuple twisting, convoluted, heart-breaking 10.0 backflips than you will see starting next week at the Olympics.
