The "He's Just a Coffee Boy" Gambit

Finally! For those who had "two days" in your office pool as the over/under for when Trump would pretend to not know Sidney Powell, you missed by one day.

Today, Trump said about his campaign's lawyer who argued (and lost) numerous election fraud cases on behalf of his campaign, and who he told others at a December, 2020 meeting in front of many others that he wanted to make his Special Counsel: she "was not my attorney and never was."

Alas for Trump, the person who was not "his" lawyer but was his campaign's lawyer who he wanted to make Special Counsel to investigate election fraud and who sat in meetings with him to plan election fraud and has pleaded guilty...has still flipped.

Unfortunately, too, for Trump is that he hasn't yet come up with an explanation for not knowing his campaign's lawyer and adviser Ken Chesebro who has also pleaded guilty and flipped.  But in fairness to Trump, that's still only two days, so he still has time.

But most unfortunately for Trump is that the huge problem he has when denying that his campaign lawyers are his lawyers (which no doubt he'll do with Ken Chesebro...) is that by denying that the lawyers who gave him advice to commit crimes were his lawyers, he is taking away his "advice of counsel" defense.  And the only lawyers left standing -- who were on record as his lawyers -- are the ones who told him not to commit the election fraud crimes he committed.
