The Eagle Has Landed...

Well, the happy news this morning is that the company putting in the wood laminate flooring doe not get its product from Lumber Liquidators.  In fact, when I asked them if they did -- before even explaining the reason -- the fellow said, "No, they sell junk."  So, I gave them the go-ahead

And at last, the old -- very old, too old carpet has been finally been removed, after 15-20 years (!) and the wood laminate floor in now in.  The official word is...huzzah.

It's hasn't yet been possibe to enjoy it, or adjust to it yet, or determine if there any any downsides, since the first actions needed are to plug in the computer system and peripherals, re-connect the home theater system and put everything back in the homestead where it belongs.

The home theater got set up first, since there were fewer plugs.  It took a while, with a few "No Signal" messages on the TV screen, but eventually it got done.

The computer and peripherals were the challenge though.  There were so many tangled cords under my desk that I thought they were making the sequel to Snakes on a Plane.  And the challenge was not just untangling them, but remembering where things that got set up between 5-10 years ago were supposed to be.  It took a couple of hours, which is actually far less than I figured (I was guessing days), but at least the main things seem to be working.  I haven't tested everything yet, and there one external drive that isn't lighting up, which has me scratching my head, but basically the important items are running.

As for the rest of the homestead...I haven't even touched anything yet.  I don't have the phones working yet, even.  The bathroom and kitchen are still jam packed with all manner of folderol, but I'll get to them soon enough.  Probably the bathroom first.  We have our priorities.

Things might be slow at Elisberg Industries the next day or two, but we have a skeleton staff on hand so operations will be going on   Because Customer Service is Job One.  Or least least within the top ten on the list.
