The Daily Stewart This Week

If you didn't see Jon Stewart's Monday hosting of The Daily Show, his Main Story was about Trump dealing with Volodymyr Zelenskyy and what it all means for the new order he's creating.  It's a very good report with Stewart at his full-of-rage vibrancy and pounding humor.  There's a relentless comparison to pro wrestling that pointed, more than a bit over-the-top, but funny.

I know it's a humor show, but I nonetheless do have three quibbles with some of Stewart's conclusions.  Not all of them, most I think are spot on.  But --

He attributes too much of Trump's actions to values.  Trump doesn't have values, other than himself.  More to the point is that he is in love with dictators, and that drives him.

Trump's new world order that Stewart describes is valid, but not at the level he gives to it.  What he leaves out is that Trump's actions have empowered Europe which is separating itself from Trump and the U.S. for now and gaining strength it didn't use before.

The U.S. is not aligned with Trump.  Trump and 10% of the country is.  Polls show that Americans distrust Trump by 81%-to-9%.
