Taking a River Cruz
Yes, yes, I know most people saw the video of Ted Cruz (R-TX) trying to look oh-so macho in the tiny gunboat crammed with others trying to looking just as macho and tough, including Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Susan Collins (R-ME) and John Cornyn (R-TX) hidden amongst them, lost amid Ted Cruz mugging for the cameras, leading them all down the mighty Rio Grande River.
And yes, I know he said all the right macho and tough things about keeping our borders safe when he claims that President Biden is not doing that, putting us all at risk of invasion by the brown hordes from across the border, worse perhaps even than the invasion before the 2018 mid-term elections when Trump sent the United States Army to the border to fight off the caravan hordes headed for America.
And yes, I know that Ted Cruz shouldn't have been in that particular boat which wasn't made for what he claimed they were doing, and that with all the machine guns the boat was armed with it would likely terrify the young children who all reports say are the ones trying to enter the U.S. out of desperation at home, but then that's part of the very point Ted Cruz wants you to know he's making -- to keep even Mexican children out of the U.S. at macho gun point.
And yes, the macho Ted Cruz did note the true danger he put himself in just for you to expose this threat by explaining they were actually heckled by dastardly members of the "cartel" and human traffickers -- because as is known fact, that's what drug cartels and human traffickers do, heckle U.S. patrol boats armed with machine guns, most especially those with video cameras
And yes, okay, the video Ted Cruz himself valiantly narrated for his beloved Texans was taken in the pitch dark and was just a close shot of him and a few others standing on the shore in extremely tall grass, so all you can see is Ted Cruz in basically a swamp, but in fairness that's his natural habitat. And former Texas congressman Beto O’Rourke had the gall to mock him by tweeting : “You’re in a border patrol boat armed with machine guns. The only threat you face is unarmed children and families who are seeking asylum (as well as the occasional heckler)" -- but if Ted Cruz can stand tall against rumored cartel hecklers, he can almost certainly handle a mean tweet.
The thing is, whenever I see Ted Cruz standing up in an over-crowded little boat patrolling the Texas border armed with machine guns, shouting tough-macho things about children, all I can think is that -- well, Ted Cruz knows he screwed himself badly by going on vacation to Cancun during the disastrous and deadline energy crisis in Texas, and took a major hit in popularity, so he's got to seize on some other issue where he can stand up, hold a rifle and sound like he's really macho and tough on behalf of Texas security, so that you'll totally forget that he went on vacation to Cancun during the disastrous and deadline energy crisis in Texas. And threw his daughter under the bus by blaming it all on her.
Ted Cruz isn't up for reelection until 2024. That's a very long time for Texas voters to forget his Disneyland "Jungle Cruz" boat stunt, and not nearly enough for them to forget him going to Cancun during their deadly energy disaster. And whether people remember or forget, we can rest assured that whoever he's running against will show video of Ted Cruz at the airport in his vacation clothes, along with video of the deadly energy disaster. And we can be certain that he will have video of him trying to look macho in a little boat with a rifle. And it's going to look silly by comparison, because Texans will remember how ghastly the energy disaster was. And that they weren't actually in any threat from children crossing the border.
Keep in mind that when Trump sent the army to the border to combat the supposed awful caravan and tried to make it into a national crisis right before the mid-term elections for peak value -- Republicans got crushed by the Blue Wave and lost control of the House, which is what allowed Democrats to impeach Trump twice and hold investigations of the Trump administration that had been buried under GOP leadership. So, Ted Cruz trying to get election points 3-1/2 years in advance with a rifle in a small boat against children doesn't quite seem to be the issue he'll want compared to going on on vacation to Cancun during the disastrous and deadline energy crisis in Texas,
But hey, you can't say he isn't trying and doing all he can to make you forget that he went on on vacation to Cancun during the disastrous and deadline energy crisis in Texas, And threw his daughter under the bus. Because there he is, on his little boat, holding his rifle, and trying to look macho and tough.
Perhaps that's why he invited Lindsay Graham along. It does make him look more macho. But not by much.
