And so it now turns out that the GOP has just reversed itself after calling an emergency session and voted to drop the amendment it had just voted on hours earlier that would have shuttered the Independent Ethics Office.
Only hours earlier. Yes, I'd say that's some kind of an emergency.
Let's be very clear -- this does NOT even remotely change in any way the point of their original vote, since this was only dropped because of the tsunami of criticism dumped on the Republican Party, not because of any sudden hours-later change of intent to avoid ethics investigations. In fact, we'll have to see if the GOP brings it up again later when there's less attention, or if the mass humiliation was enough to bury it.
