Strawberry Season
The day after being indicted in Georgia on RICO charges, Trump announced that he will be holding a press conference on Monday to prove (with geometric logic, no doubt) that his team did a search and has produced a “Large, Complex, Detailed but Irrefutable REPORT” which he insists in frenetic anguish shows all the evidence that the election was stolen. My immediate thought is that people should keep an eye open to see if he starts talking about "strawberries" and begins nervously rolling metal balls in his hand.

It didn't work out well for Capt. Queeg, and it won't for Trump. When hearing about his plans to have his press conference, all I could think was “Please. Have it!! Go ahead. In fact, put it on all the networks in prime time for as big an audience as possible.” Let as much of the country as possible see him have a breakdown before their eyes.
How bad is it for Trump? After he posted this manic cry on his Trump Social platform, it was quoted and responded to on Twitter by…the Republican Governor of Georgia!

(By the way, my one concern was that the Georgia legislature – which recently passed a law allowing them to replace a prosecutor – might possibly try to use that law to replace Fanni Willis. But with a public statement like this by the state’s governor, directly quoting Trump, it seems highly unlikely -- if not improbable -- that the legislature will act against her.)
Given the fevered state of mind Trump clearly seems to be in for a while now, which has only gotten worse, I can imagine what he will say at his cry in the dark for help, because it’s what he’s been saying for almost three years.
“All those people who are going to testify, I know exactly what they’ll tell you – lies. They’re no different from any of the losers of my staff, they were all disloyal, they fought me at every turn. But here’s the evidence, all of it, the election was stolen, and I’ve proved beyond a shadow of a doubt with geometric logic that 11,780 duplicate voters did exist. And I’d have produced those fake voters if they hadn’t conspired to block me. But I know now they were only trying to protect the Biden crime family.”
That’s what Trump has been saying, over and over and over. And over. Relentlessly at rallies, in interviews, everywhere. No doubt his lawyers are advising against the press conference, to hold off saying anything until after the trial, but it’s certain that he’d ignored them because, no, no, he doesn’t want to put it off, he wants to deal with it all here and now.
And the more I thought about what Trump has been saying for almost three years, and what he’s likely to say on Monday, and continue saying, the more I thought I should track down Capt. Queeq’s breakdown scene in The Caine Mutiny. And…and when I found it – it was so eerie, to the point of creepy, that novelist Herman Wouk’s estate should sue Trump for plagiarism.
I’m not exaggerating. This is not being hyperbolic. We all know what Trump has been saying, repeatedly. He said much of it in his social media post announcing this. So, all that remains is to be reminded what Capt. Queeq said, as well -- as he had his mental breakdown in front of the court.
