And now, we send you back a few years into fantasyland and just imagine if the headline of only days ago was different by merely two words what the reaction would have been --
Lawyer for Barack Obama Paid $130,000 to Hide President's Affair with Porn Star" The Wall Street Journal has discovered that Barack Obama had an affair with a porn star while his wife Michelle was pregnant with their second child. To cover it up, his personal attorney paid $130,000 in hush money to keep the woman, Stephanie Clifford from going to the press. ABC Television has confirmed that the porn star (who goes by the name 'Stormy Daniels' in her adult films) had scheduled an interview with them before the election, but at the last minute mysteriously dropped out. Reaction from Republicans has been swift and outraged. "This is a disgrace in every possible way," said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY). "It is shameful for any man to cheat on his wife, but to do so when she is pregnant and to have that affair with a porn star and then pay money to silence her shows a level of ethical behavior that is beneath reproach and makes abundantly clear that Mr. Obama has a total lack judgement that, as president, puts the country at risk. His moral right to lead the country has been undercut and he should resign." Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) called for Mr. Obama's immediate resignation, as well. "A president is the moral soul of this great nation, and I am heart-sickened as a husband and father, and as an American, to read of Mr. Obama's grievous lack of responsibility," the Speaker said. "This is not how any person should act, let alone the President of the United States. And my immediate thought is that this is not the end of the story, but only the beginning, because we have no idea how many other affairs he's had, how many porn stars he's cheated with, and where money has been paid. How many other rocks must we turn over to discover more depravity. He should resign." Already, the Freedom Caucus of the Republican Party has drawn up three articles of impeachment against Mr. Obama, and has 64 co-signers already. Two House investigations have been organized, one by the Ethics Committee and the other by the Justice Committee, which will look into whether taxpayer money was used to silence Stormy Daniels, the porn star. The president's email server is expected to be subpoenaed to determine if other laws were broken. "Barack Obama must resign today, and if he doesn't we will impeach him by next Tuesday," congressman Louie Gohmert (R-TX) stated. "This is further proof that he is not a legitimate president, because no loyal American president would ever do such a thing with a porn star. And tried to hide it from the American people. It's the kind of thing they do in Kenya. What do I tell my children about this? What does any parent say to their child about this? I'm repulsed. This is what you expect from a socialist. We must see his emails. Why is he still in office?" Reaction from American clergy told the same story. Religious leaders have condemned the president, as have such groups as the Moral Majority, Value Voters America and Tea Party Express. "This is a affront to God and the Holy Bible," said evangelist Franklin Graham. "It shows what happens in America when our children are taught not to have faith and elect a heathen. He should resign." Speaking on his 700 Club television show, Pat Robertson said that "This is God raining down His retribution on America for its coddling of gays, women libbers, radicals and Jews. When the liberals in America elect a Godless leader, God will not accept it because He alone is the true leader. Barack Obama should resign." The Fox News Channel has devoted full coverage to the story since the report broke. Host Sean Hannity showed footage of what it said was 300,000 people who have already gathered at the National Mall in protest against the president Hannity defended his show against charges that the video might be from a march eight years ago. "This is what we've come to expect over the years from liberals of the Democrat Party. An unwillingness to accept the truth and to attack those whose provide it. It's why the liberal elite of Hollywood and New York have failed America time and again as I have said on this program, and have conspired with certain bankers, who know who they are which we will tell you more about in an upcoming program, to elect the liberal Barack Obama, someone who consorts with porn stars and prostitutes and shoves his depravity in the faces of good, decent Americans, a man who has a very socialist agenda in an effort to turn America over to the Communists and create unrest here among minorities to get them a sense of empowerment and undermine our country's morals to weaken us and open the door to Uncle Joe Russia and let them just walk in the front door to destroy this nation, our military and values of our Founding Fathers that true Americans and true-born Americans love. He should resign, or worse." Mr. Obama cannot expect to find much support from his own party. No Democratic members of Congress immediately came to his defense, while most said how disappointed they were in him. Indeed, several have joined Republicans in signing the demand for articles of impeachment. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said that the president's actions put him in an untenable position. "America is an understanding country, but this is probably pushing them too far. For me, the biggest problem is not the personal issue, but the risk it puts the country, having a president making himself so vulnerable to blackmail. I fear it may be hard for him to remain in office." Around the country came other cries of indignation. "For the longest time, I have said that Barack Obama was probably born in Kenya," said real estate mogul Donald Trump, who has long been an Obama critic, "and what my investigators have found beyond that, about his affairs with other porn stars and prostitutes and his abuse of women would shock you. Believe me. Believe me, folks. Many people have said that Barack Hussein Obama has no moral character and lies and cheats and has affairs -- he has affairs, has affairs while his wife is pregnant, which is as low and despicable as any man can ever be. He should resign." There has been no official word yet from the White House. * * * The thing is, not only would that be the story -- and only the first story, that would build in fury with each passing hour and new headline, and fill "Fox News" 24/7 for weeks, if not months...but just reading this imagined tale is creepy and slimy and uncomfortable because we can't even imagine it about Barack Obama. It's preposterous and galling simply to consider it. Yet I suspect most people easily believe it from Trump. Which is just one reason it barely even resonated in the headlines -- buried underneath other hourly outrages, like demeaning an entire continent, that are even, remarkably, far worse.

Spot on.. Do not know why no one holds Trump to any letter of any law or civil decency!

Thanks. It's somewhat of a mystery. But the best answer is that he keeps throwing SO much fecal matter every *day* that people are on to the next one. And only a few things are able to anchor and hold attention, largely because happily there's a Special Counsel required to by law.

It remains a mystery to me why there hasn’t been more seeming leadership and outrage over Trump’s varied shenanigans, errors, and general low brow idiocies from the Dems. I understand that taking steps to remove a president can be easily inferred as political rather than based on any actual infraction, but enough is enough.

Chris J, thanks for your note. While I understand your wish that there were explosions of fury and action every day, and wish it too, I'm not quite sure I fully agree with you thought here. I think there's a huge amount of outrage from elected Democrats (which is who I assume you're referring to). The issue for why there isn't *more* is not so much that things take time, but I think more a case of the party being in the minority, and there's a limit of what *can* be done.

Yah, you’re probably right. It’s still frustrating, though, and your article post here accentuates that fact that were the positions reversed, Obama would be out much more quickly it would seem. Leave a Reply. |
