Some Moore with Cook
Peter Cook and Dudley Moore began their long and wonderfully productive teaming with the British revue, Beyond the Fringe. In the early '60s. We've had several of their great sketches here in the post, most notably the interviews with Sir Arthur Streib-Griebling here and here. Some came from Beyond the Fringe, some from their two-man stage show, Good Evening (whose title comes from an oft-repeated line in the Streib-Griebling sketches), but happily a great deal of footage still exists from the two TV series they did back in England, Not Only..., But Also... and Once Moore with Cook. Alas some of that material was lost, but happily plenty remains.
This is from the first of their shows, Not Only...,But Also.... It's listed on the video as being called, "The Facts of Life," but that's wrong. It's "A Bit of a Chat." (I know this because I have a comedy album that is made up of audio from the show.)
In it, young school boy Dudley Moore comes home to get an awkward, uncomfortable and wonderful lecture from his fathe, Peter Cook.
