SNL and the Debates

If you didn't see it live, or catch it yet on the Internet ( from what I've read, the online reaction is explosive. Not surprisingly, people LOVED it), this is the pre-opening sketch from last night's Saturday Night Live. It’s the Democratic debate. But I mention it for a particular reason – not because it was so well done (it was), but because they came close to topping themselves with having had Tina Fey as Sarah Palin. As I watched the sketch, and they were introducing the candidates, I was surprised why they didn't bring out Hillary Clinton last. But then it became clear -- they were withholding Bernie Sanders for the big, comedic reveal. That's because for this sketch, to play Bernie Sanders, they got…Larry David. And he was hilarious.

(By the way, oddly enough, Tina Fey was on the show last night. Tracy Morgan was the host, making his first acting appearance since his accident, and they did a 30 Rock sketch -- and used the actual 30 Rock cast )

Actually the first three sketches and monologue were all pretty good, in particular a Family Feud sketch where the father of one team is the former husband of the other team but abandoned them and re-married. A very premise done well, and with Tracy Morgan as the father.

But for now, let's go to the debate --
