Sitting in the Laugh of Luxury
Yesterday, I referenced a Trump rant that he had just posted about the stalker arrested in Florida. In it, Trump covered a range of topics, most of them having no bearing on the truth or reality. I mentioned a few, but left out how he also claimed that people around the world were laughing at us.
Well, let's go to the video monitor and check in on that.
Here's a very funny video from German TV laughing -- no, not at "us," but -- at Trump specifically and solely for over two minutes about his disastrous debate appearance. To be clear, this is not the nightly news, but a political satire program, Heute Show, in the spirit of The Daily Show, (In fact, if you search for Heute Show, the top result says it is adapted from The Daily Show.) By the way, "Heute" means "Today." It airs on ZDF, a public-service channel.
For those of you who don't speak German, the video includes English subtitles. For those of you who are Greg Van Buskirk, you can ignore the subtitles -- unless you decide to go into Dr. Buzz Mode to see how accurate they are...
Pro Tip: When even Germans are making humor at your expense, you had better realize very quickly that you've reached a level of foolishness so deep that it's transcended truly cringe-worthy.
This clip leaves out the full lead-in to it. What's said first is -- "All right, dear friends. Good things are still happening on this planet. The TV Duel Donald Trump vs. Kamala Harris. Meaning: Convicted felon vs. experienced state's attorney."
Roll the tape --
SIDE NOTE: One understandable, but unfortunate mistake they make: the show is clearly unaware that the Haitian immigrants referenced in the commentary are here in the United States legally. I tracked down the show's TwiXter account and sent them the correction, mainly for accuracy and fairness, but also because it makes what Trump said even worse.
