Ruby Friday
If you watched all the House Jan. 6 Select Committee hearings, you will recall seeing the testimony of Ruby Freeman and her daughter Shaye Moss. They were poll workers in Georgia whose lives were threatened and undermined, ultimately having to temporarily move, when Trump tweeted about them and spoke about them and viciously and reprehensibly lied about how instrumental they supposedly were fraudulently manipulating ballots. He even showed security video of them which he claimed was them passing a thumb drive filled with fake votes for Joe Biden. In fact, Shaye Moss explained under oath that it was her mother handing her a ginger mint. Ruby Freeman was so well-known to her community as “Lady Ruby” that she even had t-shirt made up with that – and she was so recognizable for it that she had to stop referencing herself as she had for years.
It was a heart-wrenching story, but the wonderful news this week was that the women were invited to the White House last Friday where President Biden awarded them the Presidential Citizens Medal. Wonderful as the ceremony was, I think my favorite part was that, throughout it, they referred to Ruby Freeman as “Lady Ruby,” giving her her name back.
This would have been enough of a story for today. Except that it’s important to know more of the tale, how even after Trump knew the truth about the two women, he continued trashing them.
Oh, by the way, I don’t mean it kept it up two years ago. Or a year ago. Or during the hearings. I mean now. Last Friday. The same day they were honored at the White House. And kept it up arguably more insanely than he had initially. Really. It’s bad enough and inexplicable enough that he even still just mentions them. But that he has gone full-crazy on them – last week – is sick even by Trump standards. I can’t begin to understand why, but then I live on Earth in reality. The best I can figure is that Trump knows the Georgia Grand Jury was wrapping up soon (it subsequently has turned in its findings, which haven’t yet been reported), and he’s totally freaked out by it, and there they were, getting a Presidential Medal from President Biden, so he was maniacally driven that same day to lash out at all those he believes are, in any way, related to the voter fraud risk he caused for himself calling the Georgia Secretary of State.
But I don't know. This is Trump. Maybe he was just in a pissy mood because he didn't get his Diet Coke fast enough.
What he wrote is truly crazy. I’ll give you a moment to get your seat belts and buckle in.
At first, I only saw one piece that Trump wrote about the two women on his social media platform. I thought it was everything he’d written, and it was sick enough to outrage me and think they might sue. But it turns out that, no, Trump didn’t write just one piece about them – he wrote three!!!
Here they are. They are insane. Not just what he says, but how he writes it –

EVERYTHING THEY SAID WAS FALSE.THE FBI…REACHED OUT TO ME ONLY TO CLEAR MY SOCIAL MEDIA (evidence tampering)…COUNT WAS LOW, IT WAS REALLY LOW.” Now it gets really bad,TRUTH 2 Ruby Freeman, page 2: “BOOM under the table. Cut the zip ties to scan them so the number would go up…so that’s how the number was CREATED, by the ballots going through the scanner…I do want an attorney. IT’S ALL A FRAUD. EVERYTHING THEY ARE SAYING IS FALSE. FROM THE SUITCASES OF THE BALLOT BOXES, TO WHY WE OPENED THEM BACK UP. EVERYTHING THEY SAID WAS FALSE.” They got Ruby 7 top D.C. lawyers and protection from the FBI (Again?). WHY? She then “changed” her statements - LIED? TROUBLE FOR RUBY!!! What will the Great State of Georgia do with the Ruby Freeman MESS? Why not just tell the TRUTH, get rid of the turmoil and guilt, and take our Country back from the evils and treachery of the Radical Left monsters who want to see America die? MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
Yes. Really. I'll give you a moment to clear you head and get your bearings.
This was from the former president of the United States. With his finger on the nuclear button. Who is apparently running to be elected again.
When I at first was planning this article, I was going to begin by saying how nuts, creepy, dangerous and infantile Trump supporters were, and here is an example of one of them still maniacally going after Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, with the crazed madness of a psychotic 16-year-old on drugs lashing out his manifesto in a whiney rage against the world. And only after was I going to reveal that it was Trump himself. Five days ago. But after further thought, and deciding to begin with the wonderful news about the two women, I thought it was best for the Trump Rant to be read fresh, knowing it’s from him.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Unabomber had seen what Trump wrote and thought, “Wow, that’s insane.”
I know Trump is crazy and pathetic (and these lunatic posts take it to another level), but even knowing the imminence of the court findings in George, it’s near-impossible to understand why he’s STILL going after these two women at all – let along in a drunken rage.
If there’s any good news from this, it’s that their their lawyer released a statement –
“Nobody, not even a former president, has a right to intentionally spread damaging, defamatory lies about fellow citizens. “The lies about Ms Freeman and Ms Moss have been proven false over and over again, but they have nonetheless upended my clients’ lives and continue to threaten their safety.”
After reading that, I have to believe even more that they are seriously considering suing. It probably risks bringing more threats on them, but without suing, Trump will keep it up which is even more risky.
Also, making a lawsuit against Trump more likely, it turns out that actually have an active defamation lawsuit is against Rudy Giuliani. (He tried to get the suit thrown out of court, but the judge turned him down, and the case is proceeding.) So, all their lawyer has to do is add Trump to the active suit.
It should be noted that a major factor why Trump wasn’t named in their defamation lawsuit before is likely that when Trump made his original smears against them, he was still president and therefore protected legally. It should additionally be noted that last week, when Trump posted the above denigration, Trump was no longer president. And no longer protected.
Timing is everything.
