Dear God, I don't even begin to understand this.

I don't know if Sen. Wicker is saying that SNL is a racist TV show -- and that if it is a racist show, then that proves there's racism everywhere else, all over the country.

I don't know if Sen. Wicker is saying that if SNL is a racist TV then that's proof that racism in the South and his home state of Mississippi don't need to have the Voting Rights Act continue to protect against racism.

I don't know if Sen. Wicker is saying that he watches "Weekend Update" on SNL, and that's where he gets his news, which is how he knows there's racism everywhere in the U.S.

I don't know if Mississippi is so virulently racist that they'll lash out and say almost-literally anything, no matter how mind-numbingly non-sensical  to try and suggest, "See, we're not really as bad as we are."

I don't know if these are actually two separate thoughts, and Sen. Wicker (R-MS) is just giving a shout-out to his fave television show.

All I know is that if this is who the great state of Mississippi is electing to represent them in the Senate, then this shows they should not only keep the Voting Rights Act in place, just to be perfectly safe, but also they might want to make sure that No Child Left Behind is brought back and fully funded.
