Putting the Youuuuuuuu in U.S.A.
“If they’re coming after Trump, they can come after youuuuuuuu!!!”
This seems to be the mantra that Trump and Republicans want to push to their needy, trusting, woefully-uninformed marks -- not just about the legal search for stolen classified documents, but over the past five years.
Never mind that they’re coming after Trump because, as his 2016 campaign manager Paul Manafort just acknowledged in an interview that it’s true he gave documents to a Russian oligarch with ties to Vladimir Putin that got passed along to Russian spies. And that Trump himself said on camera that he trusts Putin, the dictator of America’s longtime enemy, more than he trust U.S. intelligence services under a sworn mission to protect the country. And that the exhaustive Mueller Report actually did say there were contacts between the 2016 Trump campaign and Russia, but too much evidence was blocked from investigator to be able to prove in court that there was a crime. And that Trump invited the Russian Foreign Minister into the Oval Office and gave away classified information. And that Trump was the first president in U.S. history to be impeached twice, the first time for trying to blackmail the president of one of our allies. And the second time for putting together a coup attempt to overthrow the government and undermine democracy. And that he enabled an Insurrection attempt and was okay with threats to kill his vice president. And that Trump was recorded on a phone call trying to pressure the Secretary of State to commit election fraud. And that Trump destroyed presidential documents, including by tearing them up and flushing away in the toilet, despite the Presidential Records Act requiring all documents be preserved and sent to the National Archives. And that there was probable cause to get a judge (appointed by Trump) to authorize a legal search warrant which had been approved by the FBI director (appointed by Trump) that a crime at been committed at Trump’s home, stealing government documents – many presumed to be classified, which Trump had no right to have and had refused to return, which is a felony with a penalty that Trump himself increased from one year in prison to five years.
And this doesn’t even include that Trump had his charity shut down by the court for extensive violations and fraud. And that Trump has a history of undervaluing his property for tax purposes but overvaluing them to get loans. And that after multiple investigations and lawsuits, his “Trump University” scam was shut down
So, yes, if you do all that, there’s a very good chance they will be coming after you, too.
As the admonition goes – if you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime.
For those in need of a translation, it means: if you plan a coup to overthrow the government, you will be investigated.
But yes, yes, Trump is The Victim. Trump is always The Victim. Trump claims to be a billionaire. He was the U.S. president, the most powerful man in the world. And yet Trump is The Victim. Always. When people don’t grasp that there is something deeply wrong with that picture, then there is something incredibly wrong with those people.
But still, “If they’re coming after Trump, they can come after youuuuuuuu!!!”
Side note: There's a small problem here. Because if by "youuuuuuuu!!!", that means also they can come after Joe Biden, it's not unreasonable to think that Republicans wouldn't be as horrified by the concept. Especially since that would include coming after Nancy Pelosi, or Kamala Harris, or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, or Dr. Anthony Fauci, or, well, pretty much any liberal. Which makes you think that maybe, just maybe the idea that "they" can go after just anybody isn't as awful a matter to Republicans as they're making it to be.
But still, since this is the party of Trump, and in TrumpWorld, the only thing that matters is oneself, then ultimately it is a terrifying idea. That if they're coming after Trump, it is indeed ghastly to think they can come after youuuuuuuu! If by "youuuuuuuu!", you mean meeeeee!
Which, phew, brings us safely back to -- “If they’re coming after Trump, they can come after youuuuuuuu!!!”

Well, you, see, the reality is that the Democrats passed the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, passed the $1.9 trillion COVID Relief Bill, passed the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure bill, passed the CHIPS bill to bring the industry back to the U.S., passed the veterans health PACT Act, passed the $750 billion Inflation Reduction Act. Almost all of which were passed with zero Republican votes. To help all Americans, whoever you are.
But yes, sure, it’s Democrats who are coming for you, and Republicans who love, love, love you all and will stand tall and protect you all from the big, mean, scary Democrats.
Unless you’re Mexican. Or Asian. Or Muslim. Or Black. Or Jewish. Or, y’know, one of those women folk. Or gay. Republicans are passing laws across the country to limit your right to vote. Or to take away your Constitutional right to get an abortion. Or to use contraceptives. Or marry who you want. Or get healthcare if you’re the wrong kind of gender. Or read schoolbooks before they’re burned. Or take your children from you and put them in cages.
But yes, it’s supposedly Democrats who are the ones coming for you.
Not Republicans, oh, no. Never.
The only reason Democrats would be coming for you is because they need to get an address so that they can mail you your Social Security check or American Rescue Plan stimulus payment.
Or, in fairness, also if you blackmail a foreign leader ally, collude with Russian enemies, steal classified government documents, and plan a fascist coup.
So, beware. Because if they can come after a seditious, grifting con man, thieving, Insurrectionist criminal like Trump – they can come after youuuuuuuu!!
