I was going to write about Trump's pathetic meeting with Putin and his post-summit comments and retractions. Saying things like how Putin "vehemently denied" any hacking and that that seems to settle the matter, despite what the FBI, CIA and national Intelligence agency says. And saying proudly he's going to set up a joint "cybersecurity" program with Russia -- the people who hack us -- only to backtrack on this the next day after outcries from Republicans. And joking with Putin, the man who led an attack on the United States by hacking. And commiserating about bad, mean, nasty reporters with Putin, the man who has had 60 journalists killed.
But instead, far better than anything I can say is one, utterly wonderful tweet that Preet Bharara left in response to a tweet by Trump. Mr. Bharara, you will recall, was the U.S. Attorney who was told he would be kept on, only to be fired before he could follow-up an investigation on ties between the Trump campaign and Russia, as well as Trump's claims of being wiretapped by Barack Obama, both of which fell under his purview. Bharara has been surprisingly active in social media since his firing, and scathing in ways that are drippingly sarcastic and biting. And his latest is such that I will give him the floor alone and leave it at that.
