Oh, Happy Day-ish
A point of personal privilege, courtesy of my longtime friend Steve Fiffer who lives back in Chicago (okay, Evanston, to be accurate) with his wife Sharon. I've mentioned Steve in the past, for several of his books -- and Sharon has written a mystery novel series (eight "Jane Wheel Mysteries"). Besides which, Steve's mother Elaine was a medical technician in my dad's doctor's office for years. So, yes, it goes back a long way. I'd say more, but this isn't about them.
It happens that Steve and Sharon's daughter, Nora Fiffer, wrote and directed a movie that was just released, Another Happy Day, which she calls a "postpartum depression comedy". It stars Lauren Lapkus, who was a recurring character on such series as Orange is the New Black, The Big Bang Theory and HBO's Crashing -- and also features Carrie Coon, who got Emmy nominations as lead actress in Season 3 of the series Fargo and The Gilded Age, and received a Tony nomination for Supporting Actress in the 2012 revival of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
The movie is available to rent on Amazon Prime. Just know that if you do go there to rent it, there is another movie with the same title from about 15 years ago. This one is, of course, from 2024, and you can find it here. (It might be on other streaming services, as well.) It's new enough that I haven't seen the movie yet, so I can't tell you more, but the trailer is very entertaining.
