News Update

Yesterday, I wrote a note here about ICE officials wearing face masks and not providing identification when arresting suspects that said, among other things, "For all anyone knows, most especially the person grabbed, they are not ICE, but extremist vigilantes. When arresting someone, ID must be shown. It must be a requirement."

Hours after writing this, I saw a news story about a new bill in the California legislature that does actually address this! It's called the "No Secret Police Act" to ban police from covering their faces.

It has some exceptions, like military troops and emergency officers (for instance, those working on wildfires where you need facemasks). But it's a very good step.

You can read more about it here.
