Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) has made a radio ad attempting to draw business to Texas by taking on California. He blasts the state business environment environment as being "next to impossible." And in the end, the only resolution is to "come check out Texas." In Texas, he tells businesses that Texas has "low taxes, sensible regulations" and a "fair legal system."
Unfortunately, it also has Texans. Almost worse and also complicating the issue is whether a company wants to re-locate and do business in another country, which will be the case when Texas finally gets its wish and secedes from the union. When that happens, businesses will then be required to pay export taxes, protective tariffs, and import fees; deal with new customs regulations; meet health requirements and face red-tape delays at the U.S. border. And besides, you will no longer be able to claim that your product is proudly "Made in the U.S.A."
