Mothers Day Goes Native

May 9, 2015

I thought I'd post something a little different for Mothers Day.

It's the story of a young elephant from Thailand, Me-Bai, that had been separated from her mother in order to be trained to perform.  Almost four years later, Me-Bai had lost too much weight, and an elephant conservation group, the Elephant Nature Park, convinced her owner to let them have her.

The park also searched for Me-Bai's mother, named Mae-Yui, and found her working at a trekking camp.

And here's the joy of Me-Bai being reunited with her mother.  Only last month.  Just in time for them to celebrate Mothers Day.
