More What's My Line?

One of the fun things about What's My Line? is that there are segments that you're sure should be "Mystery Guest" pieces, because the celebrity is so renowned, but at the time, they're just regular contestants.  That's sort of what we had here the other week with Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas.  Today, though, we have someone in the more traditional "celebrity" field of entertainment.

It's also somewhat backwards to what I described above -- something less-known today than back in the 1950s, though his work is still extremely well known today.

This is Chester Chester.  Some of you likely know the name right away, while others are scratching your head. What's interesting here is that, though he's not an official Mystery Guest, they don't have him "sign in" -- because his name alone would be so recognizable to the panelists.

That's because Chester Gould is the creator of the comic strip, "Dick Tracy."

No doubt you've heard of "Dick Tracy."  And maybe even you've heard of Chester Gould.  But it's a good bet that you've never seen the fellow.  And neither had the panelists, so no blindfolds were needed.  But his name?  Gots to leave that blank...
