Media Alert

As mentioned here the other day, for those of you who like awards shows, the Writers Guild Awards Show will be streamed live over the Internets this evening. It begins at 6 PM (Los Angeles time) -- or thereabouts, since not being on network television they can fudge a bit for late stragglers.

To watch, just click here  and the magic of technology will do the rest.  You can even click now to open the page as a reminder, and nothing will happen until they start to broadcast.

You likely won't know any of the recipients, unless you're a family member (and even then in some cases), but there will be plenty of celebrity presenters.  The host is Nathan Fillion, star of ABC's Castle.

The negatives:  Some of it can be dry.  And long, since there's no network guy pointing at a clock. And it's heavily weighted to TV shows, rather than movies.

The positives:   Some of it can be fun.  And there are no commercials.  And if you watch television a lot more than movies, it's weighted heavily to TV rather than movies.

So, if you want to see some celebrities, and the people who write your favorite TV shows and movies.  And an awards show that most definitely isn't playing to the camera.  And award-winners willing to be reasonably honest.
