Making Your Vote Count
This was sent to me the other day by composer-conductor (pianist-other stuff) Peter Breiner, and given Trump's phone call today to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin congratulating him on his election, I thought it was particularly appropriate.
The graphic was originally an actual Soviet poster from the era around 1960. Though elections were even far-less fair and open then, the poster was nonetheless used to "encourage" all citizens to participate in the election. (As Peter -- who grew up in the former Czechoslovakia -- noted, this encouragement was "was completely superfluous, because, not only everybody was forced to go, but there was only one party..."). However, while the picture below is the original, the text is a current local parody. Since Peter speaks fluent Russian, he translated. It says, "Everybody to the elections! We elected the President of USA, now we'll elect the Russian one!"
