I just read that dear Liz Cheney has dropped out of her Senate race, and I couldn't let the moment pass without mention.
I almost didn't have the strength to write anything, after I read her weasly, sanctimonious statement. Though, in fairness, I don't know what else I should have expected from the lass. She wrote -- "As a mother and a patriot, I know that the work of defending freedom and protecting liberty must continue for each generation. Though this campaign stops today, my commitment to keep fighting with you and your families for the fundamental values that have made this nation and Wyoming great will never stop." I will give her credit for one thing, if one's definition of "patriot" is someone who doesn't foist herself on the American public by running for the Senate and possibly being an elected official there, potentially causing huge damage to the nation" -- then, yes, she is a patriot, under those terms. Much the same as Sarah Palin is a patriot, and a mother, and quit, thereby removing herself of the chance of public office and responsibility. Given that Ms. Cheney only recently moved back to Wyoming, it will be interesting to see how deep her "commitment to keep fighting with you" goes. Or who "you" actually is in her mind. I wouldn't be surprised if she already has her exit visa...
