Let's Not Make a Deal
Updated: Jul 25
Over the weekend, Trump posted a very long social media message about all the countries he was negotiating with to end his disastrous unnecessary war in Iran. The message got glowing praise by MAGOPs in Congress, extolling Trump’s brilliance, stating how it would overwhelm the deal that President Obama had made. Others simply wrote “The Art of the Deal” to show in the simplest way how this was Trump’s long expertise.
One MAGOP senator, Bill Haggerty of Tennessee, in particular gloated --
“Obama administration officials are basically praying that they're not going to be completely embarrassed, which I think they will be, because President Trump is going to come up with a deal that is the opposite of what the JCPOA addressed.”
Just a few simple things in return.
Among the countries Trump listed who he was negotiating with, none of them were Iran.
There is no deal.
The U.S. just bombed an Iran missile site.
Gas prices remain sky high, and will continue to be so for at least the next six months, even if there had been a deal yesterday. Which there wasn’t.
It was ludicrous comment for Sen. Hagtery to make. If he actually believed what he said, he'd have waited until the supposed "spectacular" deal was signed, so he could crow and dance. But saying that when he did, before there was even any agreement about all the non-Iran countries, now only risks him eating crow. And being the one embarrassed.
And being Trump, he not shockingly doubled-down and did it again. Posting a statement yesterday that said – ““The Enriched Uranium (Nuclear Dust!) will either be immediately turned over to the United States to be brought home and destroyed or, preferably, in conjunction and coordination with the Islamic Republic of Iran, destroyed in place or, at another acceptable location, with the Atomic Energy Commission, or its equivalent, being witness to this process and event. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
For the record, "Will be" implies there is a deal with Iran.
There is no deal.
So, this again (and again and again) is a pure Trump empty statement.
Trump’s approval is 34%. Two-thirds of the American public isn’t buying what he is desperately trying to sell. And yet the MAGOPs in Congress keep lining up behind him like lemmings as they march off the cliff.
And he has dementia, which is degenerative.
