Last Week Tonight Last Night

If you didn't see Last Week Tonight with John Oliver last night, his Main Story was about air traffic safety.  It was a terrific report -- detailed about a very dangerous situation, yet very funny in its scathing humor.

But as I watched, there was one thing I kept waiting for him to mention.  And eventually, happily (as I was certain he would), he did indeed bring up the huge part that Ronald Reagan played in the disastrous problem when he fired 11,000 air traffic controllers.  Something that the FAA has still not recovered from.  I wish that Oliver kept drilling this point even more throughout the story, since it's a Reagan gift that keeps on giving, but I'm glad it was addressed.  (This is a damning issue that's long galled me, since I'm sure Reagan's action has been long forgotten by many.  That's why I wish Oliver's quip on which side to take in the firings hadn't been made, since it softened the blistering fact about Reagan, or at least had been more pointed in the joke, but the overall issue with the firings was at least handled very well.)
