Your mileage may vary, but here are my three favorite ads that ran during the Super Bowl, from third fave to the first. We'll start with the ad for the Hyundai Sonata. If features John Krasinski, Chris Evans, Rachel Dratch, and former Boston Red Sox star David “Big Papi” Ortiz. Coming in at #2 on my chart is the ad for Amazon Alexa with Ellen Degeneres and Portia De Rossi. It's one thing to spend the $5.6 million for 30-second commercial, but this one ran for a minute-and-a-half. I guess when you've made the decision to go all-in on 90-second ad, you might as well dive into the deep end and spend on making the commercial itself And topping my list for favorite Super Bowl ad was the one for the Jeep Gladiator. Hey, the Super Bowl can get Bob Dylan and Paul Newman to do ads, I guess it's not that big a leap to get Bill Murray, but I don't imagine it was easy. They also brought back Brian Doyle Murray and Stephen Tobolowsky. And what made it all the better was that yesterday when it premiered was, in fact, Groundhog's Day. (I'm sure that that's what initially gave the ad agency the idea to do this spot.) My only complaint is that I wish they'd bought a minute of air time and could have been more leisurely about the whole homage.
