It's Not Easy Being Greene

Mother Jones has uncovered a video of Marjorie Taylor Greene made only a week before the 2020 election -- not years before that, oh, my, she must have just forgot about because it's from another time -- in which she talks about violence if Trump loses the election.

SCOOP: In a pre-election video just uncovered by Mother Jones, Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene is seen endorsing political violence. “The only way you get your freedoms back is it’s earned with the price of blood," she says. And just days ago, the Republican Party caucus in the House voted to allow her to keep her committee assignments -- and half of the caucus gave her a standing ovation.  While it's likely that most Republicans at the time didn't know of this video, the reality is this video doesn't stand out as unique in regards to her opinions but rather supports all that we already know.  And which those who supported her and stood applauding her should have known, as well.  It was known that she approved of a threat to the life of Speaker Pelosi.  It was known that she had an ad of herself with a semi-automatic weapon that claimed she was the worst nightmare of three Democratic women representatives in Congress.  And all her lunatic QAnon conspiracy theories -- which were known -- don't even qualify as meaningful compared to her threats of violence.  And so it was left to Democrats in the House to act and strip her of her committees.

Several Republicans sashayed pompously about what a slippery slope Democrats were on by taking the action they did, and they should be careful because the next time Republicans would do the same.  One of those I recall was Rep. Andy Biggs (R-TX).  What I wrote in reply was that the next time a Democratic official threatened the life of the Speaker of the House -- or of any member of Congress -- or ANY HUMAN BEING, period, not only   should every Republican vote to strip that Democrat of his or her committee assignments, every Democrat should vote that way, as well...and they should expel the person from Congress.  And I'd wholeheartedly support it.

The precedent that Democrats set was spot on, and it should be even more.  And the slop isn't slippery in the slightest, it's a very easy path.  And that was before this video of Marjorie Tayler Greene was uncovered, which only confirms it all.

And just to be clear, that's "Marjorie Taylor Greene."  I have no intention -- and I hope others feel the same -- of using her three initials, because I sense that's exactly what she wants, to become a media figure of high popularity who as easily identified as "AOC."  And personally, I will have no part of it.

And the Republicans in the House voted to keep her committees.  And half gave her a standing ovation.

After Democrats voted to strip her of her committees, she made various statements about how she was glad for it because she wouldn't be able to do any work on committees anyway, and this freed her up to go around and build her support, and she couldn't believe how stupid Democrats were to do this for her.

I'm not completely sure the voters in her district back in Georgia will be all that thrilled in 2022 to have a representative who can pretty much do absolutely nothing for them -- and is fine with that and instead wants to travel around the country building up personal support to raise money.  Who knows, maybe her district will be fine with that, but then if so, they'll get the zero representation they deserve.

More to the point though is that Democrats will now make Marjorie Taylor Greene the poster child of the Republican Party -- the QGOP or the GQP, as its already being called -- which took absolute no action against her and half of whom stood to cheer.  Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has made clear that this terrifies him for the Republican Party.  And he's right for that.  And that Ms. Taylor Greene doesn't realize that the Democratic action put her front and center as the face of the Republican Party in 2022 shows how utterly naive and profound stupid she is.

Because, now, this isn't about Marjorie Taylor Greene, we know who she is.  This is about today's Republican Party who enables her, votes to support her, stands and cheers for her and is complicit.

And Republicans should have known.  Even before this video was found.  Because pretty much everyone else with their eyes and minds open did.
