It Ain't Me, Babe, No, No, No...

Every once in a while, something pops up that shows how utterly panicked MAGOPs are about the Mid-Terms, knowing that they have nothing to run on. Yesterday was one of those times when Speaker Mike Johnson, the MAGOP leader of the House of Representatives gave an interview to CBS. He said something so bizarrely telling that I was going to print it out, but I figured that no one would believe me without video evidence.

Yes, really. And it's so stunning that it bears repeating. Mike Johnson actually said, "Everybody's frustrated about fuel prices, obviously. But that's not related to policies. It's not related to the Republicans in office."

Well, no, I guess not, at least if you don't count Trump's policy to imposie tariffs on every nation and his policy to start his Iran war that he can't end, which closed off the Gulf of Hormuz, blocking tankers from leaving with oil. All of which was voted on by "Republicans in office" and approved by them.

Apparently, this is the best, final argument that Mike Johnson can make as early voting has started. "We control the White House, control the Senate and control the House, but what we do is not related to politics!"

All that's missing is him waving a white flag and getting on his knees to beg for mercy. And then turning to the camera, shrugging and saying, "Sorry, I got nothing."

It's hard to imagine a more weak, empty argument that a party leader could make at any time, but especially during early voting for a Mid-Term election.

Putting aside that, of course, the skyrocketing price of gas is entirely related to policies and completely related to Republicans in office -- but in the final leg of an election, as early voting as actually started, that is the very time when a political party (especially a political party in charge of everything) wants voters to know that pretty much everything is related to your policies and to your party members in office!! And when you say it's not -- that's running for cover and hiding. Because you really do have nothing.

Except for a leader with a 30% approval. And with dementia, which is degenerative.

By the way, contrary to what Mike Johnson says (a low bar to get over), I don't think "everyone's distraught" about fuel prices. I think MAGOPs in Congress are frustrated. But I think most Americans range between angry and distraught. "Frustrated" is such an adorably quaint word for "I don't know what to do, if I fill up my gas tank I won't be able to pay for food and medicine, but if I don't fill up I won't be able to get to work and get paid so that I can afford food and medicine."

"Frustrated" is such a Mike Johnson word as he tries to flim-flam the public with his faux-religious fake empathy. A man who once compared himself to Moses. But it's hard to show Mosaic empathy when you disclaim responsibility for your very job that you swore an oath to. So help me God.

This is also a good time to mention a periodic reminder that Mike Johnson was one of the House leaders on January 6, 2021, for trying to block the certification of Electoral votes in an effort to overthrow the government. I'm guessing that Mr. Johnson would say that that wasn't about policies either, and that it wasn't related to Republicans in office.

Mike Johnson might say none of this is about policies and none of it is related to Republicans in office. But that's the problem. Because ultimately what the Speaker is saying, as clearly and loudly as possible, as voters are going to the polls, is -- the MAGOP are in charge of everything and we have nothing. But -- please, vote for us anyway.

That's quite a panicked, final message.

Poor Execution

For several reasons, other than one sentence yesterday, I haven't written anything about Pete Hegseth's statement that he will have an execution by firing squad streamed live. In part I haven't writt
