Yesterday, when I posted the rare video of Matthew Broderick starring in the 1995 revival How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, that was all I had intended. But in tracking it down, I came across another video that was too good not to follow-up with.
As I mentioned, I had seen the show in its world premiere production down in San Diego at the La Jolla Playhouse. I'd driven down from Los Angeles specifically to see him in the show, and it was wonderful. And though the full cast was extremely good, I didn't remember who played who, from two decades ago.
It turns out that the female lead of Rosemary was played by...Megan Mullally!
Here the two of them are in a scene from the Broadway production. It's mostly dialogue, though ends with her singing a brief reprise of the song, "Happy to Keep His Dinner Warm." She looks a bit different than today -- hey, it was 22 years ago, in her ingenue days -- but once she speaks...that's her!
Robert J. Elisberg is a political commentator, screenwriter, novelist, tech writer and also some other things that I just tend to keep forgetting.
