How to Moderate a Debate 101
We turn today's column over to Kyle Clark of the NBC outlet in Denver, KUSA News 9.
This is a Wow. It’s a 4-minute montage of the Colorado 4th District GOP primary debate that Lauren Boebert was in, and it’s a masterclass of how a moderator is able to be blunt, relentless and deeply polite. Not just towards her, but all the candidates.
I sent it to a friend who loved it, but thought the way it was edited made it seem like the moderator was biased against Republicans. But as I explained to him -- this was a Republican debate. The moderator is incredibly polite, but the reason he's asking very tough question to Republicans and holding them to the questions is because...the only people there are Republicans!
This was posted on TikTok and is split screen with the guy who posted it reacting. He’s a little intrusive, but basically quiet and pretty amusing in his joy. But it’s the best, longest video on this that I found, better than shorter ones with just Boebert, or the full debate --
