Hitting It Out of the Park
Once again, in their second episode of the season, the creators of South Park have show that they are not back down, but rather will be unrelenting. The episode was hilarious and devastating. Actually, “repeatedly devastating” on several different issues.
What got most attention was the focus on DHS head Kristi Noem (who is not happy about the episodes -- and the heart bleeds), but it went far beyond that.
That said, yes, the slams on Noem were brutal. Angrlly shooting every pet in sight throughout the episode. Having a make-up team before she made virtually every public statement. Having things go continually very wrong with her make-up team.
(And to drive the point home about her obsession with such things, it's notable that her unhappiness with the episode was just about the attention to her makeup team, and yet completely ignores her killing pets throughout the episode and the general brutality she’s perpetrating. In an interview, she said that that it’s fair game to criticize her work, but “they can’t.” Er, say what?? They can’t?? It’s what half the episode is about!!! And further, of course, for her to suggest in her interview that it's only Democrats who make fun of someone’s looks ignores quite literally every slam Trump has regularly made about those he doesn’t like -- going back to mocking a disabled, shaking reporter and still ridiculing Rosie O'Donnell for her appearance. So, yeah, this episode really got under Kristi Noem's skin. It’s so sad she feels bad about it.
But as I said, the scathing humor wasn't all that the expense of Noem.
There was notably a devastatingly sequence where a character says there are good Latinos in heaven, and ICE immediately sends its agents make a mass raid there. And a blunt, cringingly funny scene at Mar-a-Lago where, amid all the sexual perverision going on, we see that Dora the Explorer is being groomed there, giving massages.
I also loved that when a group of ICE agents are being flown to Mar-a-Lago to be honored, Trump and “JD Vance” are dressed as ‘Mr. Rourke’ and ‘Tattoo’ from Fantasy Island to greet the plane.
And once again, even Trump's bed partner Satan is repelled by him.
The episode focuses on school guidance counselor Mr. Mackey getting fired, because such things are no longer needed. And when he realizes how much money he needs to make his monthly "nut", he can't find a new job, so ends up signing on to apply as an ICE agent because they're paying so much and with low requirements.
Here's a two-minute sequence of that.
