Health and Character
Other than as a historical story, I care next to zilch about Joe Biden’s cognitive decline when president, since it’s only important as a historical story and perhaps lesson. But not only is it distracting us from the actual, current scandals and horror – but it’s dripping with irony since it’s not merely a distraction (which is bad enough), but I have absolutely zero doubt that the Trump team has itself long been hiding Trump’s actual dementia...which is current, problematic and literally meaningful.
Furthermore, Joe Biden's cognitive decline is matter of age, which is a normal process. Dementia is not, it's a disease and degenerative. Trump is in office right now, putting out executive orders right now, undermining democracy right now, deporting people without due process right now, accepting $400 million graft right now, and his dementia will not be getting better.
I don’t think the Biden books is anything more than a temporary distraction. It will go away, and the actually important issues to people will take center stage. In fact, I doubt most people will even know of the Biden book. But they will know about rising prices, availability of goods and unemployment – and Trump’s lunatic meltdowns will grow even more.
Also, I think it's not unreasonable to think that attention to Biden's cognitive issues will only serve to draw more attention to Trump.
So, it was with all this in mind that we now get the news of Joe Biden having an aggressive form of prostate cancer. I know that medicine has made massive advances in the field, and I hope they can impact him positively. But clearly it's a major hurdle ahead. Notable too for all the work that Joe Biden has done in pushing the field of cancer research. (And notable, too, is Trump freezing funding to universities, which are in the forefront of medical research, which includes cancer.)
All of which brings up Joe Biden being Joe Biden. And this video from seven years ago when he was a guest on The View, and Meghan McCain tearfully brought up her father having a serious cancer diagnosis. Which is when, once again, as we've seen so often, Joe Biden showing one of the many reasons why so many Americans have long responded so well to him and elected him president.
