Having a Voice
I periodically write how I love clips from The Voice: Australia because the judges are so friendly and supportive of the contestants. And I keep finding examples that support that. This video is one of those, but it’s huge fun for another reason which I don’t want to give away why because it takes a bunch of truly unexpected turns. So, watch it to the end. I’ll just say that the singer is an 18-year-old beach blonde (that’s not my words, but from one of the coaches, explaining why all the coaches are just so surprised by the utter charm and surprise of it all.) And also that it’s the coaches’ reactions throughout (and especially when they turn around) – and humor – that is a part of what makes this stand out. I’ll only add that I hadn’t watched this for several months, when I watched it again and had forgotten all the twists and incredible charm of it, and I may have adored it even more the second time. I found myself replaying a range of segments over and over.
One final word: there are over 4,000 comments, each one accurate and falling over themselves in their reaction, which I don’t want to give away. But it’s worth clicking on afterwards to read some. I’ll only mention part of one, because it not only doesn’t give anything away, but will likely intrigue people to watch – and is (humorously) accurate: “I’m pretty much convinced that she is a MERMAID!!” It will not come as a shock when I note that – for all these many reasons – I love this video.
It's possible that this video will initially appear not to post. But it does -- click on it. If for some reason it doesn't, though, click here to watch it on YouTube.
