Happy Father's Day

Father's Day snuck up on me a bit this year.  But though his passing is so recent, I have wonderful thoughts, and the day is full of great memories.

This was probably my dad's favorite Father's Day song.  (And I don't think there's any "probably" about it.)  We had a tradition on Father's Day -- I'd call, and sometimes he'd jump in as soon as I wished him Happy Father's Day and not want to delay things a moment longer, and sometimes I'd intentionally push things past the greeting and start chatting for a few minutes, starting a conversation, waiting for him to finally cut me off and say, "The song!"

And of course, I always, knew what "The Song" meant.

It meant Harry Ruby's song, "Father's Day."

Here is Groucho Marx singing The Song on The Dick Cavett Show.
