Happy Adeline Day
When my folks moved into an independent living residence, there was a lovely lady named Adelin Cohn who lived down the hall. I always enjoyed visiting with her, and even after my parents passed away I've kept in touch with her. Sometimes visiting when in town, and always calling on her birthday. (It's always easy to remember her birthday, since it's the day after when my father's was.)
Today is Adeline's birthday, so I called. She's 103.
And no, that wasn't a typo.
I wrote here about going to her 100th birthday party three years ago. She seems to still be doing well. Maybe not as sharp, and slowing down a touch, but she sounded strong and seems to be in good health. And she was always pretty vibrant -- still driving and pretty well when she was 98, until her family sat down with her and explained why it was good to stop.
Anyway, it's always good to call her, and have her pick up on the other end of the line. So, once AGAIN, I can't let the day pass without noting a very happy birthday to Sweet Adeline.
