So far, after two weeks – which is four episodes, they run two back-to-back – I find Galavant solidly better this year. I enjoyed it last year, though found the plot line a bit thin. It's still not great, but they got smart and have more storylines going on, so the plot has more to work with. And the parody seems better. The songs, too, which seem even sharper. (And they were a lot of fun last year.) Here's a song from the other day, on Sunday. A little background would help. Galavant -- that's him on the right, below -- and the deposed, once-evil King Richard (now more clueless, but trying...) have gone to one of the king's castles in order to get an army, only to find it...gone. It turns out that because Richard has been away so long, the villagers took it down brick-by-brick to build structures that would benefit them. Moreover, they realized that a king doesn't actually do anything if he doesn't have the support of the people. He's just a guy wearing a metal hat because his father wore a metal hat and gave it to his son. "Which is pretty crazy, if you think about it." So, they came up with a new idea of how to govern. Which brings us to the song. "Build a New Tomorrow."
