Forrest Gump's Mama Was Right
On Sunday, "JD Vance" showed once again why he isn't anywhere near as sharp as he seems to think he is, as he left a happy-dance tweet about getting the endorsement of Robert Kennedy, Jr. Putting aside that Kennedy, Jr. has become a sort of conspiratorial nutjob and his endorsement is not necessarily the Really Great Thing one might otherwise think, there are nonetheless several ways you could note the moment, and "Vance" chose the very worst possible options.

I read this, and my biggest disappointment wasn't what he wrote but that Twitter only allowed me 288 characters to reply. It was just so..very...well, almost inexplicable to see that this is what he wrote, seemingly blissfully unaware of how utterly clueless it was. So, I wrote the following in reply --

And that, I thought was that.
Except a half-hour later, I found that I was really bothered by the stupidity of what "Vance" had written. While I was certainly pleased that something this imbecilic was written by the MAGOP nominee for vice president, it was just so totally clueless on so many levels that I realized I was almost offended by its obtuseness. Appalled that someone who could be a heartbeat from the presidency was unable to see the most basic, obvious lunacy staring him in the face. Oh, sure, Trump says things that are actually crazy, but he's delusional and a sociopath with early dementia, so that's something separate. This is someone so arrogant about telling people how they must live their lives, whose life has value and whose doesn't, staring at a sign that says in huge letters -- "DANGER! WARNING! RISK OF DEATH. ROAD ENDS IN 10 FEET. SUDDEN CLIFF DROP-OFF IMMEDIATELY AHEAD. VALLEY FLOOR 3,000 FEET BELOW. STOP NOW!!!" -- gets back in his car, figures that the sign doesn't apply to him, because he knows best, and speeds ahead, hitting the precipice in 10 feet and flies off the edge into nothingness, plummeting down to a fiery crash explosion. It's the sort of thing where if "JD Vance" ever complains again at being called "weird," people only need point to his tweet as evidence.
As I said, it was just so stupid that I realized I was borderline offended by its depth of stupidity.
So, I went back to Twitter. Found his original tweet. And figured that, to heck with the 288-character limit, because that's not nearly enough, and sent off the following two tweets in further response.

And then I rested. But then went back again and added later, because the inanity of what "JD Vance" had tweeted just cried out for more --
