Down the Rabbit Hole

Okay, so yesterday I wrote about the PR mess the Trump administration has with its spokespeople being sucked into a vortex of incompetence and disaster.  While it's nice to be proven correct only a day later, it's still bizarre the level to which that is.

I mean, seriously, this is SO lunatic.  As a Special Counsel -- the former, highly-admired 12-year director of the FBI -- is named to investigate the Trump administration, and the FBI, Senate & House continue their own investigations...today, Kellyanne Conway sent out tweets that take pot shots at Anthony Weiner and Hillary Clinton.  

This is where I add in, "No, really."

Never mind that her Weiner tweet only serves to remind people of Trump's own sex issues, and not just the Access Hollywood tape or sexual abuse lawsuits against him, but including him bragging of walking in on girls in a pageant locker room -- and never mind that her tweet about Joe Biden & Ms. Clinton was a lie) -- if this is the White House PR strategy, to wave shiny objects at old news that have zero to do with the administration, then they are down the rabbit hole already. 

To be clear, if this is their strategy, they are doomed not just for the meaningless of it (which is plenty enough good reason on its own), but for the utter cluenessness not realizing that when a Special Counsel and FBI are INVESTIGATING you, the news headlines Don't Matter.  And not realizing that they are reading everything you -- and everyone in the administration -- writes.  And that's what any focus should be locked in on like a laser beam.

If White House communications can't figure that out, and are wasting their precious time and air space on, given that there are only 24 hours in a day, then they have lost control of the ship.
