Dancing in the Light
I believe I’ve posted this Saturday Night Live video, but regardless, no doubt you’ve seen it, since it’s one of the classic sketches from the series, often including in their Best of… clip shows. It’s a great “Dancing in the Dark” dance with Steve Martin and Gilda Radner.
What makes this particular video different is that someone put the video side-to-side with the original number with Fred Astaire and Cyd Charisse from the movie, The Bandwagon. Martin and Radner don’t duplicate the dance, of course, though there are a few moments that do overlap. Mainly, it’s just fun to watch the two scenes together. Also, until watching this video, even though I’ve seen The Bandwagon, I never realized that Gilda Radner is wearing the same costume as Cyd Charisse, and Steve Martin’s is fairly close to what Fred Astaire is wearing.
