Clueless
I suppose that since it was the headline news all day, I should be writing about the Epstein emails that got released today. And I guess I will, but only from a very tiny perspective that hasn’t been covered on the news. As for the headline news, I’m just going to let that be – not because I don’t care, because I do, but because, despite there being some interesting connections made, it’s not particularly news that Trump got mentioned by Jeffrey Epstein in ways that show he knew about what Epstein was doing and was in Epstein’s home with young girls and show he's been lying.
Because, duh.
It’s improbable that this wasn’t the case. Not just because we know Trump has said he likes young females. And not just because he said that if his daughter wasn’t daughter, he’d want to date her -- nor just because he said that with his daughter sitting next to him. And just because he said you can grab women by the p*ssy if you’re a star because they let you. Or just because he said Jeffrey Epstein was his best friend. Or because there’s a lot of video and pictures of them partying together. Or because we know trump cheated on his wife with a porn actress. Or because a dozen women claimed that Trump raped them. Or because Trump was convicted of what the judge wrote was the equivalence of rape. Or because all evidence points to him having Epstein’s partner Ghislaine Maxwell transferred from a hard prison to a minimum security prison. No, not for all that. But because before he was re-elected, Trump riled up his base over the Epstein files and promised that, if elected, he’d release them – and everything he’s done is to block their release.
So, is it breaking news to me that Trump knew what Epstein was doing and was in Epstein’s home with young girls?
Duh.
Once the files get released, we’ll find out more about what the depth of Trump knowledge and activities were with his best friend Jeffrey Epstein. And that will be news.
But what struck me most is how lost Trump’s MAGOP defenders are in the House, desperate to figure out how to support him, but not knowing how. Especially knowing that Trump has said he was best friends with a child predator.
And so, when Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released the emails which they had subpoenaed from the Epstein family, the MAGOPs who run the committee flailed about trying to come up with some possible way to respond – and instead, showed their desperation and utter incompetence by posting --
Why did Democrats cover up the name when the Estate didn't redact it in the redacted documents provided to the committee? It's because this victim, Virginia Giuffre, publicly said that she never witnessed wrongdoing by President Trump.Democrats are trying to create a fake narrative to slander President Trump.Shame on them.
As Abraham Lincoln, the founder of their own party, once famously said -- "It is better to be thought a fool and remain silence, than speak and remove all doubt."
No doubt they felt this was damning. Unfortunately, the only people it was damning about was the MAGOP Oversight Committee. And perhaps Trump.
For the record: This is the email in question with the redaction, in its entirety.

What I wrote back was one of the most obvious replies I've ever written to people with major governmental authority. I said --
"Seriously????
"The Epstein Estate didn't redact the name because they got a subpoena to provide the email. Redacting the name would be tampering with evidence and is a crime! Democrats redacted A COPY because the person named had been a MINOR and a VICTIM!!!!
"Are you as totally clueless as you seem?!"
I should add that, making the MAGOP Oversight tweet all the more idiotic and desperate (and yes, it's possible) is that since the beginning of the debate began on releasing the Epstein files, the top argument by MAGOPs -- and Speaker Mike Johnson -- has been they wanted to protect the names of the victims and minors!
So, y'know, sometimes if you don't have something to say, it's really best to just not say it!! (Though Lincoln phrased that better.)
As I said, this leaped out to me for demonstrating clear -- yet again -- the issue I address a couple weeks ago: how the pure, sweat-inducing desperation of the MAGOPs is pouring out of the computer monitor with almost everything they have been saying and doing.
And in this case, the problem with that is that it's shouting loudly how guilty and damning they think Trump is.
He may be. He may not be. But man, do the MAGOPs think so.
