Branching Out

If you saw the movie, 42, and were impressed by Harrison Ford's tour-de-force performance as Branch Rickey, you might enjoy this.  It's the real Branch Rickey on What's My Line?, putting on a performance as himself.  (And showing all the more why Ford's performance was so good.)

What's particularly fascinating about this, is that as legendary as Branch Rickey is -- not only to baseball, but also popular culture -- he's not there as a Mystery Guest.  The only reasons the panelists need blindfolds here, the host John Daley explains, is that there's an area of recognition that gave them "pause."  The reason becomes clear later.  And also, his "line" that they have to guess doesn't even have anything to do with the Dodgers or Jackie Robinson.  But it's great fun regardless.
