Blame it on Rio

Starting Friday, I will go into Hibernation Mode and begin to vegetate as I watch the Many Channels of NBC for the Olympics.  That's become the Opening Ceremonies start on Friday evening.

However, for those of the equally maniacal among us, competition has actually started.  Soccer coverage began yesterday (or perhaps earlier, but that's when I first was made aware of it.)  It's been carried on the NBCsports channel.  (In my area, that's channel 314 on the cable box...)

On now (12:25, Pacific Coast time) – host Brazil vs. South Africa.  It began at noon, so there's a lot to go.  The score is 0-0, so you haven't missed much....

At 2 PM – Argentina vs. Portugal.

At 4 PM – South Korea vs. mighty Fiji

At 6 PM – Off the radar, going out to dinner…

[UPDATE: I just saw that there are also soccer matches on the USA Network, which should be significantly easier to find for people.  Upcoming this afternoon is a big one:  Mexico vs. Germany.)

I'm as always massively looking forward to the Games.  Though there's been an overabundance of stories about big problems, not just at the Olympics themselves, but throughout the city and country.  So...we'll see.

But still, in the words of The Producers --

Rio

Rio by the sea-o.

Bialystock and Leo

Oh, me-o...
