Back on December 26, A Prairie Home Companion did a video simulcast. It was a very entertaining show, but one particular segment stood out for me. It wasn't a quintessentially Great Number, but it just tickled me richly for its utterly clever simplicity.
Alas, there was a glitch on the Prairie Home website, and all links and embeds to the song resulted in the wrong piece. For inexplicable reasons, I went back to given it another try the other day, hoping maybe that they'd fixed the glitch. But...no, they hadn't.
On a whim though, I tried another tact. And it turns out that the video of the full medley exists, and it can be found on the site and on YouTube.
Again, this isn't a Brilliant Song. It's just really goofy, fun and clever. And making it all the more whimsical is that the group performing the medley is one of the show's guests, a very high-end, elegant, classical music choir, VocalEssence, led by the accomplished choral director Philip Brunelle..
The full segment is a "Beer Medley," but it's the first song that I'm referring to.
So, we take you back to the first day after Christmas last year...
