Be the Master of Your Own Domain

For those of you with a few spare shekels to spend, Yahoo might have something for you.

Years back, the company began registering various domain names, because...well, you just didn't know when you might need batoota.com.  And starting today, they're are going to begin auctioning them off.  Not to worry, they all won't be up for auction today, but some will be brought out during the week.

Some of the domains actually will be valuable to some people -- like energy.com, sandwich.com, or father.com and many others.  And those won't come cheap.  The expectation is that prices should fetch between $1,000 and $1.5 million.

But if you want to see what's available, or jump into the auction yourself, it's all here at the Sedo.com auction site.

You do have to figure, though, that whoever wins the bid for wmd.com is going to have a lot of 'splaining to do when they try to get clearance trying to pass through the TSA checkers.

(The current high bid on that, by the way, is 29,999 Euros.  I just have to suspect that NSA is keeping tabs on that one...)

I'm still trying to understand, however, who at Yahoo thought it was a good idea to just be really safe, because you never know, and register oyoy.net, gmum.com, and julija.net,

On the other hand, I imagine that the people who own Tunics R Us have their fingers crossed and are anxiously hoping that their big holds.

But good news to all Iva's of the world.  Iva.me is still available...and no bids yet!
