No, Vladimir Putin did NOT help us "cut our payroll."  Just to be clear, Putin did NOT fire OUR employees. After all -- they're...well, OUR employees. That's the point of having them working in our diplomatic mission.  Putin only kicked them out of Russia. They are all STILL ON OUR PAYROLL Your "quip" was not only foolish and showed weakness...but it was (sorry) idiotic and ignorant.
