A Miracle Ad Campaign

A week ago, I was driving along and heard one of the more bizarre and (to me) funniest radio ads I've heard in a long time. It was the country singer Wynonna talking about knowing the pain of facing prejudice as a country music singer and after about half-a-minute of this, the ad veered off to her saying that that's why she understood the prejudice Miracle Whip faced. It was all done so-seriously, but with tongue firmly in cheek, asking people to not be prejudiced and keep an open mouth.

The campaign has actually been going on for a while, somewhat quietly, and it's pretty funny. But now, they've changed the focus a bit recently and along with the Wynonna radio ad have introduced some videos in that same vein -- leading to a two-minute music video that's along the lines of "We Are the World," that's called "Keep an Open Mouth." It's filled with celebrities -- none of them huge superstars, but all pretty recognizable. I suspect the campaign isn't for everyone, it's incredibly dry and deeply tongue-in cheek -- but I find it a hoot. At the very least, I love companies that are willing to take a chance and do something different. Laugh at themselves, even. And Miracle Whip is certainly doing that.

It's just an ad campaign, but I think they're doing a very funny job of it.
