A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste
Late Saturday night, early Sunday morning, Trump wrote on social media a truly delusional post. I don't always post directly what he wrote, but this is a "must" because there should be no mistake what he said --

Yes, really. Trump posted that. The problem is -- well, okay, you know the problem because you are are delusional. But what Trump seems to have forgotten is that he was president on January 6, 2021...!! Which one would think is a very difficult thing for anyone to forget. Unless, perhaps, you are delusional and really don't remember.
But then, only days before, Trump said that Chicago has had 4,000 "recent" gun murders. However, the Chicago Tribune reports that the actual number 276 -- not just "recently," but for the entire year to date. And for those without an abacus, 276 is fewer than 4,000.
And only days before that, Trump said that Portland is burning down (which he has been saying relentlessly -- despite the Oregon governor telling him directly that it wasn't true. And further, Trump said that all stores have been destroyed in Portland, and that when store owners have been rebuilding they are using plywood because it's easier to rebuild if they're burned down again.
Here is Portland. In fairness, it is being overrun by giant animals.
This from Trump is not normal. And this is from just the past five days.
That's quite a trifecta. Forgetting that you were president. Missing the number of people killed by guns by 93% -- and by eight months. And somehow thinking (and repeating and repeating and repeating) that a U.S. city has been burned to the ground.
But let's add a bonus from yesterday: at a press gaggle, Trump said, "Literally, you walk over from Iran to Qatar. You can walk it in one second. You go, boom, boom, and now you're in Qatar." There is "literally" no land border shared by Qatar and Iran. If you want to "boom, boom" walk between them, it's 250 miles. Or you can "splash, splash" swim 100 miles across the Persian Gulf.
(Also, "boom, boom" is probably a very poor choice of words to use when describing anything in the Middle East -- especially if the reason you're there is hoping to end a war.)
When President Biden made a mental gaffe, he was inundated by the press. It was an issue, but it was also normal aging. Expert psychologists have been saying since Trump's first term that he shows signs of early dementia. ("Early" because he's still functioning.) But dementia is not normal. And it's degenerative. And the press still just dances around even saying that he has "cognitive issues."
I didn't plan on addressing again so soon after my article here only last Tuesday (after Trump has a truly delusional weekend) that Democrat leaders Schumer and Jeffries are themselves still dancing around saying that Trump has dementia, and they barely even mention that he has cognitive issues. And party members in Congress take their lead from the two men, and so most don't say it either. But when you have such utter, literal lunacy as what Trump (the most powerful man in the world) is now saying in his delusion that has zero bearing on reality -- and which does have bearing on his fascism trying to convince the public that Democrats are breaking down society -- it's near-impossible to not keep writing about it. At least until the people with responsibility who know that Trump has dementia start sounding the alarm. Whatever party you're in.
Because the only thing having a breakdown is Trump.
