On this week’s ‘Not My Job’ segment of the NPR quiz show Wait, Wait…Don’t Tell Me!, the guest contestant is record-breaking Jeopardy champion and now the show’s host Ken Jennings.  His quick-witted and self-effacing conversation with host Peter Sagal is lively and often very funny, including stories about going through Jeopardy host boot camp and behind-the-scenes tales of being a contestant, among them, running out of interesting things to say about himself during his 74-game run.  I will only add that when they get to the ‘Not My Job’ contest, the top (for a very specific reason) is very funny, as is his response to it.

This is the full Wait, Wait… broadcast, but you can jump directly to the “Not My Job” segment, it starts around the 19:15 mark.

On this “The Weekly Show” podcast with Jon Stewart, they write, “With billions pouring into AI based on its promises, Jon is joined by Cory Doctorow, author of The Reverse Centaur's Guide to Life After AI, to separate the hype from reality. Together, they examine how the AI industry relies on inflated expectations, question what AI can genuinely do and whether that even matters when selling a product, and explore how the technology is supercharging problems already embedded in our society, including surveillance, labor exploitation, and corporate consolidation. Plus, Jon answers listeners’ questions about 107 days until the midterms, the Fox Administration, Punch vs. Jimothy.

And again, we go out and about with Jiminy Glick.  His guest today is Jeff Goldblum, whose ethereally offbeat personality is a perfect target for Jiminy.  Ideal not only as the recipient of Jimmy’s efforts, but also for being appreciative of it, which brings about some very funny moments.

Author

Robert J. Elisberg is a political commentator, screenwriter, novelist, tech writer and also some other things that I just tend to keep forgetting.

Elisberg is a two-time recipient of the Lucille Ball Award for comedy screenwriting. He's written for film, TV, the stage, has two sort-of best-selling novels, and was a regular columnist for the Writers Guild of America and Huffington Post.  Among his other writing, he's had a long-time column on technology (which he sometimes understands), and co-wrote a book on world travel.  As a lyricist, he is a member of ASCAP, and has contributed to numerous publications.
